Low Calorie Seasonings

An important step in losing weight is to make sure that their only healthy foods around you are stocked in your pantry. Instead of keeping junk foods on hand, you can choose healthier alternatives which will keep you cutting down on calories.

Soups are great for losing weight, and they are typically very filling. It is a good idea to keep plenty of broth stock around whether it be chicken or beef, and you can also use bullion cubes in order to flavor any dish. You would be amazed at how much life you can add to what seem to be fairly simple dishes by just adding chicken broth.

All it takes is adding some water to buillion cube or pouring a can of broth and you can have yourself an instant soup which you can mix a number of vegetables and other yummy ingredients in. Be careful with using too much broth though, especially of the super concentrated variety, as it can be high in sodium.

You might also want to stock a good selection of vinegars, as most dieting people don’t realize just how much calories dressings add to their diet plan. The truth is that most on the shelf dressings contain corn syrup which is terrible for your health, so try to stock a rice vinegar or sherry vinegar, and you will be amazed at the amount of taste you can add your salad or other dishes.

Sauces are certainly spiced up when you add plenty of vinegar to your pantry, and they act great as a sauté for leaner meats like chicken breast.

One other thing you should be stocking your pantry with if you’re trying to lose weight are beans, which come in tons of different varieties. There are least 26 varieties of beans that I can name off the top of my head, and each have a different taste of them. Beans can be added as sandwich spreads when they are pureed, they can be put in soups, or they can be sprouted input on salads as a very vitamin healthy alternative to cheese.

The average American eats a ton of tomatoes, and tomato products are an inexpensive alternative which make great soups and great bases for dinners. You can also buy tomato sauce, but you should be sure to stay away from traditional pasta sauces such as Ragu, as they contain a lot of sugar and other unhealthy ingredients.

Whether you are making a sauce for chicken, vegetables, or fish, tomatoes make an excellent base in order to prepare fully cooked meal.

Of course, these are just some of the flavorings that you can add to your pantry in lieu of more extravagant products which would add unnecessary calories to your diet, and so you should really get out there to your grocery store and explore what kind of alternatives you have to eat healthy and lose weight.
